Equine Flu – Important Update
Following an assessment of the latest information and having taken professional advice regarding Equine Flu, the Bedwellty Agricultural Society has considered a range of options, including cancellation of the horse section, following our initial decision to strongly recommend vaccination.
Putting the welfare of horses first, within this fast changing picture, the Society has decided that ALL EQUINES ATTENDING THIS YEAR’S SHOW MUST BE PROPERLY VACCINATED. The Society is conscious of the impact this difficult decision may cause and regret having to take this course of action, however, we must take appropriate action to minimise the spread of animal disease.
Vaccination Requirement
The society expects all equine entries to have an up-to-date equine influenza vaccination record. They must have received two primary vaccinations which are given not less than 21 days and not more than 92 days apart.
If sufficient time has elapsed the equine entry must also have received a booster vaccination which is given not less than 150 days and not more than 215 days after the second component of the primary vaccination, and further booster vaccinations at intervals of not more than a year apart. None of the vaccinations must have been given on the day of entry to the showground or on any of the six days before entry to the showground.
Note: Minimum requirements are the two primary vaccinations, plus seven days before entry to the showground. Foals six months of age or older must meet the minimum equine influenza vaccination requirement.
A declaration form (which can be found on our website) must be completed and signed before entry will be allowed.

Please ensure your horses are fit and well prior to attending the show, if you have any concerns please consult with your vet.”
Please note this policy may be subject to change as we are constantly monitoring the situation.
Horse Exhibitors are reminded that they attend the show at their own risk.

The society would like to thank Mr Rees for agreeing to judge this section and we look forward to seeing the poultry exhibitors at this years show.
