2021 Show Cancellation Notice

It is with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of this year’s show. The uncertainty surrounding permissible numbers, plus the extra safeguards which will be required have made it impossible to proceed. The committee deeply regretted having to take this course of action but could see no other way forward.
Let us hope that we can return to normal next year.
We plan to hold a number of ‘on farm’ competitions with further details to be announced shortly.
Thank you for your continued support.
Glyn Davies
Chairman.

Show Day History

Our show may not have been able to take place today, but we thought there was no better time to share a piece of show history discovered during lockdown.

Rhiannon got in touch after discovering some historical records among her late father’s belongings including this photograph from 96 years ago of her great grandfather Thomas Morris with his prize winning horse at Bedwellty Show 1st September 1924.

Thank you for getting in touch Rhiannon, what a brilliant find!

Do you have photographs from show days past? We’d love to see them! Email: SocialMedia@bedwelltyshow.co.uk

A look back …

Tonight we would normally share lots of photographs sent to us by our competitors of their preparation on the eve of show day.

Unfortunately we don’t have any photographs to share tonight, due to the cancellation of our 2020 show. But we have put together a link to those we’ve been sent over the last few years, click the hyperlink below of the Facebook album year you would like to take a look at.

We’ve enjoyed having a look back at them and hope you will too! Are your photos included? We’d love to see what our followers have been up to during lock down. Have you been spending time in the garden growing flowers worthy of sitting in our horticulture tent? Baking a cake for a family member celebrating a birthday during lockdown? Busy crafting with your children as part of homeschooling? Or passing the time by perfecting your horse riding skills thinking ahead to the 2021 show? Please do leave a photo in the comment section on our Facebook post.

2020 Show Cancellation

Message from the Chairman.

It is with deep regret that we need to inform you that the 2020 Bedwellty Show has been cancelled, because of the Covid 19 Pandemic.

We have been delaying a decision, until as late as possible in the hope that it may be possible to proceed with this year’s show. However, we have now heard that our venue, Lancaiach Fawr have postponed or cancelled all events for a number of Months. This is because, the current instruction from Welsh Government is for tourist attractions to remain closed to the public.

It now seems all agricultural shows in Wales, have been cancelled, and Bedwellty have no option in following this course of action. Obviously, with the current social distancing and restriction on large events, the health, safety, and well being of all our wonderful, volunteers, members, exhibitors, traders and above all our visitors, is paramount.

Next years show will be held at Llancaiach Fawr,on Saturday 21st August, so please put this date in your diary. We look forward to building on the success of last year, with our new layout, plus superb livestock, horse, poultry, and horticulture classes, together with an exciting range of attractions.

From all the committee, can I extend our sincere best wishes, and hope you all stay safe and well during these difficult times. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.

GLYN DAVIES
